Puglia (also known as Apulia) is the heel of Italy’s boot, situated alongside the Adriatic coast. Here you will find stone-white small towns bleached by the Southern Italian sun, and a rolling country-side with centuries old olive trees. Puglia is Italy’s largest producer of olive oil, and is also known for orecchiette, burrata, and cherries that thrive without pesticides in the dry and arid climate.
The landscape of the Puglian countryside is dotted with cacti, and masserias, or old olive oil estates, have been reimagined as sleek agritourismos where local families host visiting guests for slow, farm-to-table seasonal meals, local wine, and peaceful overnight stays.
